Bullhorn Engage 2022 and the Future of the Staffing Industry

There was an undeniable sense of excitement at this year’s Bullhorn Engage.

On the one hand, there’s reason to celebrate. In-person gatherings are back. If there’s one thing that energizes the staffing industry, it’s being able to shake hands with our old friends, forge new relationships, and learn new ideas from industry leaders.

On the other hand, uncertainty in staffing has become business as usual. Several economic factors are creating market instability that is causing many staffing agencies to rethink not just their recruiting strategies but their business models.

Hence the excitement at Engage. With so many people coming together, bringing inspiring solutions and proven strategies to overcome the obstacles to staffing—it’s not difficult to understand why there was so much enthusiasm at this conference.

Of course, PARQA was there. We’ve been looking forward to Engage for a long time (and it was worth the wait). During Engage, we captured several of the leading strategies and exciting developments in staffing. We’re narrowing the scope down to the top five. There might be some surprises in our top picks. Check them out:

Don’t Rush To Automate Bad Practices

Parqa’s Vice President of Sales, Kelli Schutrop, got to speak with Kate Rutherford and Lauren B. Jones from the conference floor. She asked Kate and Lauren for their advice for staffing agencies who are investing in tech for automation.

Watch the video here:

Top Takeaways:

“Please don’t rush to automate bad business processes. Make sure you validate that you have a great business process before you automate it. If it’s broken and you automate it, it’s just broken faster, on a bigger scale.” Lauren B. Jones – Founder, Leap Consulting

“Staffing agencies need to scale, need to make themselves recession-proof and pandemic-proof without having to hire recruiters to support the business needs. But how? Automation and adoption of technology.” Kate Rutherford – VP of Tech Talent, Advanced Group

Connected Recruiting Helps Staffing Agencies Meet the Moment

Connected Recruiting is a more proactive approach to candidate engagement. As a revolutionary inbound marketing strategy for staffing agencies, Connected Recruiting is based on the idea that staffing agencies will see more success and growth when they take advantage of three crucial best practices in marketing, including:

  • Establishing partnerships with the right marketplace colleagues
  • Using the right benchmarking to better understand their marketing efforts
  • Going all-in with the right automation strategies

It all begins with rethinking the way we’re engaging talent throughout the entire candidate life cycle. Connected Recruiting is ultimately about “reinventing the talent wheel,” whether by automating post-apply follow-ups to helping recruiters automate laborious personalized touch points such as onboarding reminders and re-engagement campaigns.

Connected recruiting empowers recruiters to know who they have in their talent pool in real-time. It’s helping to ensure a positive candidate experience and increase redeployment and referrals. That’s maybe the reason Connected Recruiting is playing such a big part in the recruiting roadmap for 2022 and beyond.

Eliminate Barriers to Recruiting: Reduce Clicks

These days, staffing is all about the speed, ease, and positive candidate experience of on-demand recruiting.

It’s not uncommon for many applicants to upload their resume and their work history and then be prompted to write out their past five jobs, including dates employed, the address of their former employer, and responsibilities. That needs to stop.

Kelli discovered a key tip that addresses this in her conversation with Anastasia Valentine, President, and Partner with Resource 1.

Watch the video here:

Top Takeaway:

“Get the technology that can help your business reduce the amount of clicks your users are having to do and can aggregate data coming in and going out.” Anastasia Valentine – President and Partner with Resource 1

Automate the Tedious and Get That Data!

Before his speech at Engage 2022, Billy Davis of Bullhorn Automation gave Kelli a preview of his breakout session at engage, in which he highlighted the need to automate laborious manual tasks and in the process, gather as much data from your interactions with candidates as possible.

Top Takeaway:

“Agencies with a digital transformation strategy in place were more likely to report revenue gains in 2021 and are more likely to anticipate revenue growth in 2022.”Bullhorn Global Recruiting Insights & Data
