In 2013, CEO Tony Sorensen and his Partner Chris Ohlendorf split-off their executive search and staffing firm from their previous partners. One of the main reasons for the split was that Tony had the vision and foresight that the times were changing, and cold calling and high turnover was not the way that he wanted to do business. What he wanted was quality internal employees that would deliver work worthy of a referral, and he wanted to own the internet. When Versique set out on their maiden voyage, they hired a digital marketing executive and a marketing specialist to build their brand, gain online visibility, and drive leads to the business. Through these efforts Versique grew from $0 to $10 million in their first three years.
As Versique continued to grow, its clients in the Minneapolis area started asking who they were using for marketing to cultivate such a great digital brand and impressive search engine results. Parqa was created in 2015 to service the marketing needs of Versique’s clients. By late 2017, Parqa had seen very rapid growth in the Minneapolis market, but Tony had a feeling in his gut that something wasn’t quite right with their business model. He realized that his true passion lay not in “just” owning a digital marketing company—but rather in teaching, training, and educating other staffing and recruiting firms on the power of digital marketing in an industry that provided his livelihood the last 20 years.
Parqa transitioned its internal marketing focus and delivery capabilities in 2017 to focus on partnering with clients in the staffing and recruiting space, quickly discovering success. The market was longing for a marketing partner that truly lived and breathed their space and had gone through the same trials and learning experiences within their own sister company. In 2018, through client demand, Parqa began offering social media, websites, and automation services to compliment its deep roots in SEO, PPC and content generation. Within a year, the Parqa team doubled in size and there is no sign of letting up.
